Dr. R.M. (Marc) Bustin, P. Geol: Reservoir Analysis

R. Marc Bustin is Professor of petroleum and coal geology in the Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of British Columbia and president of RMB Earth Science Consultants and former president of CBM Solutions Ltd.  He has broad experience in petroleum exploration and exploitation.  His professional experience includes employment by Mobil Oil Canada, Gulf Canada Resources prior to joining the University of British Columbia and subsequently with Elf-Aquitaine (France), CSIRO (France) and CNRS (Australia).   Dr. Bustin has consulted in the area of fossil fuel resource evaluation and exploitation and functioned as director and technical advisor for a variety of small through large petroleum and coal companies in Europe, Africa, North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand and Asia.  Dr. Bustin has published over 200 reviewed scientific articles on fossil fuels.

Bruce Beynon, P. Geol: Geoscience & Business Development

Mr. Beynon is a professional geologist with 30 years of oil and gas industry experience. Mr. Beynon was the Executive Vice President, Exploration and Corporate Development at Baytex Energy Corp. and was the President of Raging River Exploration Inc. Mr. Beynon also held executive positions with Compass Petroleum Partnership, Peloton Exploration Corp., Espoir Exploration Corp. and KeyWest Energy Inc. Mr. Beynon graduated with a Masters of Science degree in Geology in 1991.

Dr. Mathew Fay, P. Geol: Geochemistry

Dr. Fay has 17 years of industry experience in petroleum exploration and development of unconventional and conventional resources, including Technical Assurer for geology, geochemistry, geomechanics and well delivery.  He has demonstrated ability to assess project economics, development integrated activity planning and regulatory frameworks, and his current focus is on geochemical and geologic support for Wells, Reservoir, Facilities Management (WRFM) surveillance, plus well production allocation of produced hydrocarbons and surface casing vent flow remediation.

He is currently a Senior Geochemist with Shell Canada, and is an expert in quantitative molecular, isotope and aqueous geochemistry, oil-source correlations, source rock quality, thermal maturity, fluid composition, mobility, and fluid to rock interactions.   At Shell, he also planned 200 well targets, pad layouts and land expiry programs with an integrated subsurface, engineering and regulatory team using mapped subsurface risks, common value area assessments and play based exploration strategies.   Dr. Fay has also worked for industry titans Talisman Energy and Gushor Incorporated (acquired by Schlumberger).

David Friesen: Drilling Advisor

Mr. Friesen is a talented Senior Drilling Advisor proficient in all phases of oil and gas well lifecycle. Adept at working with methodologies to accomplish project milestones according to specific timeframes. Able to use Microsoft Office, Accumap, Peloton, Wellview, Pandell, AFE Navigator and other industry programs to complete work. Highly organized and detail-oriented professional with 39 years of progressive experience having with worked with the likes of Baytex Energy, Codeco Engineering / Stampeder Exploration, Petro Canada And Koch Exploration.

D’Arcy Funfer: Finance & Investment

Mr. Funfer is a Financial Executive and President of 80-20 Connect Inc.  with broad experience in all aspects of the public stock market, financial management, and market trading. Direct experience with financial consulting and venture capital. Interested in early-stage startups as well as companies “on the bubble.” He has over 35 years experience in stock market trading, as well as financing of publicly traded and private start-up companies, merger and acquisitions and corporate structuring.

Tim Schneider: Finance & Investment

Mr. Schneider has ~15 years of experience in the financial sector, spending time in investment banking, private equity and public market investing.  From the beginning of his career he has focused exclusively on the energy sector and further specializing in the upstream sector of the oil & gas business.  

At present, Mr. Schneider  manages the upstream and integrated oil & gas investment portfolio for Luminus Management,  an energy dedicated hedge fund with offices in New York and Houston.  Luminus is one of the premier global energy dedicated hedge funds with over $3 Bln of AUM (unlevered equity capital).    Prior to joining Luminus in 2016, Tim was a Portfolio Manager at Surveyor Capital in NYC (a Citadel subsidiary).  While at Surveyor, Mr. Schneider managed a ~$1 Bln + portfolio that was invested across the upstream, midstream and R&M energy subsectors.   Prior to Citadel, he spent five years at SAC/Point72, initially as an Investment Analyst and shortly thereafter promoted to a Portfolio Manager position.   In addition, Tim gained energy specific experience during his time with Lehman Brothers in the Natural Resources group of their investment banking division, as well as his time working for the private equity firm Trilantic Capital Partners.

Mr. is a partner in Cassels Brock’s Business Law Group in Calgary. He draws on over 20 years of legal and business expertise and represents Canadian, US and international clients in complex, strategic and business critical transactions and corporate governance matters related to the oil and gas, electrical and technology industries in North and Central America and elsewhere around the world.
